Guy Arseneault has been a an active supporter of the Restigouche Region for decades. He graduated from Dalhousie Regional High School and went on to teach and coach hockey at DRHS,  after graduating from St. Thomas University. He left his teaching position in 1988 when he was elected Member of Parliament for Restigouche-Chaleur, a position he held for nine years. During his time in Ottawa, he served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Canadian Heritage.  

 

Guy served eight years as a municipal councillor and held leadership roles in regional development, including as Vice-President and Director of the Charlo Airport Commission and chair of the Dalhousie Regional Transportation Commission. He was on the board of Directors for the  New Brunswick Teachers Association for five years, he was Vice President of the NBTA from 2013-2015 and President from 2015-2017.

 

 

Guy Arseneault was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick as the Member of the Legislative Assembly for Campbellton-Dalhousie in the 2018 and 2020 general elections. During his tenure, he was appointed Opposition House Leader and served as the Opposition Critic for several key portfolios, including Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour, Natural Resources and the Regional Development Corporation.

In October 2024, Mr. Arseneault was elected as the MLA for Restigouche-East. He was  appointed Deputy Speaker and currently serves as Chair of the Committee of the Whole. He is a Member of the following legislative committees:

  • Law Amendments

  • Legislative Administration

  • Private Bills,

  • Procedure,

  • Privileges and Legislative Officers

  •  Social Policy. 

When Guy is not in Fredericton representing Restigouche, you can find him attending numerous local events.
